Marijuana, Cocaine and Heroin Legalized In Mexico

DrugsMexico has decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine and heroin.  Does anyone actually think this is going to reduce the massive drug violence in Mexico?  Do you feel safer now?  This stunning new law has established maximum "personal use" amounts for a large number of drugs that were previously illegal, including LSD and methamphetamine.  For example, the legal limit of marijuana for "personal use" under the new Mexican law is 5 grams.  According to experts, that is about enough for four "joints".

So now that addicts do not have to fear going to jail, is this going to help solve Mexico's drug problem or is it going to make it worse?

Are the drug gangs that are terrorizing northern Mexico and the southwestern U.S. suddenly going to stop selling drugs?

Hardly.

If anything, this will make things worse, because now people in Mexico will not be afraid to buy drugs, so there will be more of a market.

As if the gang problem in the U.S. and Mexico was not bad enough already.

U.S. authorities claim that there are now over 1 million members of criminal gangs inside the United States. According to federal statistics, these 1 million gang members are responsible for up to 80% of the crimes committed in the U.S. each year.

Those numbers are absolutely staggering.

And the reality is that gangs are not just for the big cities anymore either. Smaller U.S. cities such as Omaha, Nebraska and Nashville, Tennessee have a devastating gang problem. According to USAToday, 58% of state and local law enforcement agencies reported that violent criminal gangs were active in their local areas last year, up from 45% in 2004.

The truth is that urban America is absolutely overrun with gang violence. When the gangs are not killing each other, they are raping, murdering and intimidating the peaceful communities around them. Wherever gangs are active, home invasions are very common and drug dealing is rampant.

Now there are many areas in the U.S. where you simply DO NOT go out of your house at night. People in those areas are literally prisoners in their own homes.

The current economic turmoil is just making the situation that much worse. You have a horde of young men that cannot get jobs and that do not see a positive future for themselves in American society.

So what do they do?

In many cases, they join gangs.

The United States pushed God out of their schools and out of public life, so this is one of the results.  We now live in a nation where an increasing number of young men are turning to gangs and crime.

The young men of America have become godless, brutal and violent.  This is another sign that the U.S. is quickly becoming a cesspool of godlessness.  In 2 Timothy 3:1-4, it describes how people will be in the last days.....

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God"

The reality is that this nation is becoming more dangerous every day.

So what do you do if you live some place where gangs have taken control?

Well, either you move or you get some serious security.  Things are not going to get any better any time soon, and we all need to understand that.

  • Legalizing drugs in Mexico is not going to make things worse, but better. It will lead to less people getting killed over illegal drugs, and more people staying out of prison for minor crimes, leaving room in prisons for actual criminals. As for the U.S. being overrun by gangs: one million people is a very small percentage of the population. Therefore, the claims that urban America is overrun by gangs is ridiculous. I live in an urban area not two hours outside of New York City, and I have never seen any evidence of gang violence in my area, nor in the surrounding areas. Furthermore, saying that the young men that participate in gang activity have become godless is a tall claim. Many of the young men that are in gangs that are based on and put their faith in God and abuse those who do not. The reality is that this nation is dangerous because of propaganda and the War on Drugs scaring the population into believing that gangs are going to kill them if they go outside. In my opinion, this article is a useless piece of propaganda.

    a) 5 grams of high-grade marijuana is a lot more than 4 joints.
    b) There may be a reason why the Mexican authorities decriminalised some drugs to this small extent… And corruption on the level required to change legislation is a bit far-fetched and should not be the first conclusion… One reason could be the amount of people in jails: similar to in the U.S., jails are breeding grounds for crime, where criminals who are not in a gang can be forced into a gang, and then create even more ‘professional’ havoc when let back into society.
c)The GFC was created by relaxed accounting and financial regulations. However, the GFC is used as motivation for all kinds of dubious sales products, including security equipment
d)God has nothing to do with crime. To assume that only non-Christians commit crimes is massively erroneous. look at Catholic priests for instance.
e)There is no proof that I know of for religious instruction in schools decreasing crime rates or increasing retention rates. If you have proof, show me.
f)Using a Bible quote in this article not only subverts God’s word, but the actual quotation is misinterpreted, there is absolutely no reference to violence or drugs in those words… Here is an alternative interpretation of exactly those words: Perhaps Timothy is speaking about people who love money, social respect, self-respect, power over others, and disrespect for their creator(s), above love for god and fellow creatures of god.

I could say more on many of these topics I’ve only touched upon but only wanted to clarify the cloudy information in this article. I hope my comment gets published.
